One of the consequences of the modern age, intense stress and fatigue, make our living spaces even more valuable. Residences, designed to answer these necessities, serve as a wonderful bridge to facilitate our lives and provide the comfort we need. Residences are apartment complexes and living spaces equipped with aesthetic architecture, comfort, social amenities, advanced technologies, high security, and rich social facilities.

Residences can be in the form of low-rise buildings, high-rise buildings, or skyscrapers. Common materials used for the exterior cladding of residences include stone cladding, curtain walls, sandwich panels, wood, plastic, composite, and ventilated curtain walls. Most residences offer 24/7 technical service. Maintenance, repair, and cleaning services in residences are carried out by special service personnel.

Residences attract considerable attention and demand due to their high ceilings, large windows, and unique views. In these structures, the formation and decorative features of the interior spaces are as important as the grandeur of the exterior design, high floors, and façades. For example, in these buildings, private spaces like bedrooms, dressing rooms, and study rooms are still designed separately. However, common areas such as the living room and kitchen are designed in an open plan, creating a seamless flow between spaces.

What concepts, equipment, and accessories are found in these various layouts? What kind of interior spaces are typically created in such residences? Let's take a look...

Conceptually, these spaces are designed according to the desires and needs of the user. However, residences often feature luxury and advanced technological facilities, reflecting their weight and surrounding environment. Therefore, the most common and suitable design examples are those with modern lines, minimal use of furniture and accessories, and an emphasis on the quality and elegance of the materials used. When extraordinary city and sea views are added to these factors, truly unique atmospheres emerge.

Starting with a specific apartment design, let's consider the entrance area. Upon entering a residence, there should be storage areas that function as a cloakroom. In addition, large and LED-lit mirrors can be chosen. One of the most stylishly combined elements with these mirrors is the console. Adding eye-catching pendant lights or spotlights (such as wall sconces) to this area creates a more striking and elegant space. Corridors can also be personalized by adding paintings or sculptures that match the concept and colors. Marble is commonly used as a material for the floors. Marble is the most luxurious stone used in impressive designs due to its beauty and durability. Hence, its use in entrance areas is common and preferable. Given that the ceiling height in residences is above the standard, long and wide doors can be used.

When it comes to the living room, which is the zone where we spend most of our time, it should be designed with care like other areas. The use of luxurious and impressive materials ensures continuity. Wood is commonly used for flooring, some wall panels, and various partition designs. If these options are to be used, oak, beech, pine, cherry, alder, maple, walnut, poplar, birch, mahogany, and teak are the most preferred types of wood materials.

In living room decoration, furniture is one of the most prominent elements. For a modern-looking living room, furniture in cold color tones and simple designs should be chosen. Using plain, detailed-less, single-piece TV units and rectangular coffee tables can make the environment look spacious and tidy. For a modern atmosphere, opt for straight, narrow-legged, and unadorned furniture instead of stone, bead, embroidered, and carved details. One of the most popular options in recent years is the electric fireplaces integrated with the TV unit. These are widely used and elegant details in the living room design, especially in residence-type housing.

In general, if you like the classic wooden look, furniture in cold brown or gray tones may be suitable for your home. If you prefer contemporary lines, you can make combinations with plain white or soft colors. Additionally, the architectural type of the living room is quite important. For example, if you are using an L-shaped living room, a square-shaped living room, or a rectangular-shaped living room, you should consider this and choose designs accordingly. For dining areas, opting for simple models would be a good choice. In such residences, a long, showy dining table combined with chairs that match both in material and style can be an appropriate selection. Materials such as marble, metal, and wood are suitable choices for the area. Large and stylish pendant lights can be chosen for the dining area, making the space more distinctive and prominent.

Speaking of kitchens, this special area of your home should be a place where you sometimes eat, relax, and enjoy yourself. Open kitchens, especially, should be designed integratively with the living room, dining area, and other areas they are located in. The main goal in the design phase of a kitchen should be to create a work triangle. The work triangle refers to the entirety of washing, preparation, and cooking actions in your kitchen. As the term triangle suggests, the refrigerator, sink, and stove should be positioned to form a triangle. Therefore, the first rule to pay attention to is not to place these units side by side. For instance, if you are going for a U-shaped kitchen design, you can place your refrigerator and stove opposite each other and place your sink on the other arm. If you are considering an L-shaped kitchen, you can place the sink and refrigerator on one arm and the stove on the other. However, island kitchens are the most preferred in residences because it is more practical and feasible to create extra storage, dining, and relaxation areas in this type of kitchen.

Nowadays, everyone lives long and tiring days. It is crucial to have a quality day in the life cycle. This is possible with a well-rested mind and body. One of the most important factors that improve your sleep quality is your bedroom. The bed will be the most used piece of furniture in your bedroom. The design and quality of your bed are very important. Orthopedic beds are indispensable for body health. The design of your bed should be functional and comfortable. If the dimensions of your bedroom are suitable, choosing larger sizes will be more elegant. Another important point is the headboards. Headboards, if designed with different fabric options to match the concept and colors, can be a major focal point. Depending on the measurements, models that continue up to the ceiling can be chosen, or designs with standard height and width can be selected, and design elements like panels, mirrors, and moldings can be added to the wall behind the bed for dynamism. Thus, the significant area of the room will be highlighted. Complementary furniture such as bedside tables, a vanity table with a stool, and accessories complete the space. Colors have a significant impact on human psychology. To experience a peaceful sleep at the end of the day, the bedroom should be designed with calming colors. Bedroom models are mostly composed of soft colors. Soft colors relax the mind and soothe the spirit. White and beige colors, earthy tones, and soft and light shades can be suitable for a luxurious bedroom. Lighting also plays an important role in the bedroom. Different designs should be planned for the bedside and general room lighting.

For dressing areas, if architectural planning is appropriate, parts separate from the bedroom are created. Generally, these are connected to the bedroom and contain storage areas according to the user's needs and desires. Wardrobes include sections with hangers of different heights, drawer spaces, and shelves of various sizes. Modular wardrobes with glass doors and LED-supported shelves have become increasingly popular in recent years. They have numerous advantages in terms of aesthetics and practicality for quickly finding what you are looking for. Due to their modern lines, they continue to be a simple yet elegant design in our lives.

Lastly, wet areas are one of the most important points in a residence. These can be exemplified as at least the en-suite bathroom and the general bathroom. Following the modern design line, geometric modern bathroom cabinets, natural materials like wood and stone, black, white, and neutral tones, modern sinks, freestanding bathtubs, and the use of live plants and accessories will enrich the environment significantly. For instance, dark wood such as teak is an ideal choice for a modern and luxurious look. Choosing bathroom furniture made of this material would be a good choice. Clean geometric forms can be preferred for sink models. Adding sinks in quantities suitable for two-person use can be harmonious for general bathrooms. Making mirror choices based on the furniture and materials used is also crucial for wet areas. If the size of your bathroom is sufficient and spacious, using large mirrors in proportion to the furniture will create a more showy environment. Because the views in these types of residences are prominent, positioning freestanding, oval bathtubs, or jacuzzis against the view will be elegant and enjoyable. Additionally, adding live flowers and pots will create a connection between the exterior and interior spaces.
